Some people worship idols,
The Virgin Mary, Shiva, Buddha.
Gods-in-training.

I want to worship you.

You,
a living manifestation of god’s grandeur,
skin, bone, blood and brains.

I want to kneel at your alter,
open my mouth and take my sacrament.
Commune with the communion.

I want to place food and flowers at your feet, like a murti.
To be baptized in your body
and be reborn in your arms.

I want to memorize you like one would memorize their prayers.
To meditate to contemplate,
to feel god’s love through you.

Some people worship idols,

I want to worship
You.
